Courtyards and Typical Corners.

Architecture

Courtyards and corners are very characteristic elements of the towns in the Subbética Cordobesa. In our region, you won't find two identical courtyards; each courtyard has a different architecture adapted to the uniqueness of each locality. Some of them are centuries old, and others are more modern and renovated.

Evolution.

In the past, with the appearance of houses inhabited by less affluent families, the courtyard was the focal point of gatherings for its tenants, adorned with flowers, pots, fountains, fruit trees, decorative furniture, agricultural or culinary tools...

Later, with the construction of multi-story buildings and changes in social life, they disappeared, although this affected small towns less that still preserve this traditional and symbolic architecture from a not too distant past.

History.

The Cordovan courtyard, of Islamic heritage, was created as a space to ventilate and illuminate the different rooms of the houses. But if it has been characterized by something, it has been its prominent place in family and neighborhood life.
